What a trip for the both of you...please take care of your wounds. If you have some antibiotics I would certainly take some to keep yourself from getting an infection and cold pack your foot as much as possible.
I'm glad you were able to get the kitties home safely. Yes, many thanks to Tom such a sweet person to help on this to make sure the kitties got to you.
