Subject: RE: For Jen: Innova dry--no grains!--dog vs. catI actually just took a look at the label for the dog food sample that I picked up and compared it to the cat food...the ingredients looked about the same (although the dog food has garlic and added vitamin C, it looks like)...but the big difference is in the protein content, naturally! :) The cat food claims 50% protein whereas the dog food claims 42%...which, admittedly, is probably higher than in most commercial cat foods! I believe the main difference between foods geared towards cats as opposed to dogs is the protein/carb ratio...dogs just don't need the amount of protein that cats do (can cause kidney problems in dogs)...cats are pretty darned close to true carnivores whereas dogs will eat darned near anything (I can attest to that)! :)This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. Subject: For Jen: Innova dry--no grains! This is such a strange coincidence---I called a potential petsitter yesterday, and she was waxing lyrical about her dry food of choice for her cats---grainless Innova Evo dog food (I've never bought Innova and had never heard of 'Evo'). She really was giving it the hard sell. When I asked her about the equivalent cat food, she said Innova hadn't got around to producing the cat food yet. I was a bit dubious about her using dog food for cats, even if it is superior quality, and was going to ask you guys about the wisdom of this practice--and lo and behold, Jen sends this email out the same day. I'll be calling the petsitter to let her know.
Thanks Jen!--Kerry

Subject: Innova dry--no grains!
Hi All!
I just wanted to mention that Innova has finally come out with a dry
food for cats with NO grains (they've had a dry food for dogs w/ no
grains out for awhile now)! I just picked up a sample at the kennel
where I pick up the cats' raw food...the cats love it! Let me know if
anyone wants to see an ingredient list...I haven't gotten a price on a
bag...but it's nice to know that I've got a choice with dry food now!
:)Jen

I'm
having a tough time deciding, too, whether or not I want to switch *everyone*
over! My guys also eat Wellness canned and dry...and they've *all* done
really well on it (it's the first time in a long time that I haven't had litter
box "issues")! But I've also gone back to raw food for one meal out of the
day...so that could be the reason they're doing great, as well! I like
that Innova EVO has added beneficial bacteria (like Wellness) to their dry food
(I think that helps control litter box "issues"...:) )...Like I said, I
haven't gotten a price, yet, on a bag of EVO...that could very well be the
deciding factor as to all of them getting it, or just Lola!
:)
If you
have a problem getting a sample, and you'd like one...just let me know and I can
pick up a few and send them to you! My kennel doesn't actually carry the
EVO cat food yet...they're seeing how fast the samples go, etc before they stock
it...but I'm hoping they can order a bag for me (if I decide to go with it) with
their normal shipment!
