Title: Message
Thanks for the latest news on Digby, Marlene, so glad to hear all sounds pretty ok so far. Hope the little furball is still perky today. (Also hope the "immature count" also turns out to be nothing to worry about.)
Sorry I have no clue about $$$ for PCR, but I'm sure others will jump in with info.
sending lots of positive, healing vibes for Digby,
take care, Kerry

Subject: Digby - Update

Hi All,

Got a "brief" report regarding Digby's blood tests.  His regular vet will be calling me tomorrow to discuss them.  His Thyroid test was normal, the Coombs Test was Neg., his blood profile was all normal.  His RBC's were low (don't know exact numbers until I speak with his regular vet) indicating "mildly anaemic".  His Platelets were low, and his WBC was "neither low nor high" (as they put it!!? - I hate when they're not specific).  There was one value concerning RBC/WBC that read "immature count", and they weren't exactly sure what that meant, so they'll be calling the lab about it tomorrow.
They may want to run the PCR for Hemobart.  Can anyone who's had the PCR done give me an idea of the cost?  You see, the lab that our vet clinic sends some tests to did a PCR for Hemobart on Pekoe twice (first time to diagnose and second time to follow up after treatment) and did one on Digby (which was Neg.) when they were first diagnosed with FelV - but they did it for free because they had recently installed the equipment to do PCR, and wanted the opportunity to run some tests at no charge to the clients.  They still haven't given our vet clinic an idea as to the cost to the client for the test.  Thought someone here could give me an "idea" of the cost if you wouldn't mind?
Digby seems to be a little "perkier" this evening.  Perhaps the Clavamox is beginning to kick in?

Thanks,
Marlene
