That's heartbreaking about Jennie, MaryChristine. I'm very sorry.

Subject: Re: OT cat-safe roach control

bonnie, no one had ever told me that persians are exceptionally
sensitive to pesticides/flea preparations, and the roach infestation
was so bad in this one house that we had to have an exterminator in
monthly; it was a really bad flea year, too--this was before topical
treatments--so the cats were getting bathed every week....

lost one persian to anemia/poisoning--died in my arms as we rushed her
to the vet, and almost lost another..... it took me a very long time
to forgive myself for jennie's death--and it still makes me angry that
no vet before or since ever warned me about persians and this
susceptability. (yeah, of COURSE it makes sense with their little
smushed faces, but i just never thought about it...)

my gift to jennie--and yours to fred flintstone, is to make sure that
it doesn't happen to anyone else's critters.... (jennie's spirit
taught me that i had done the best i could with the information i had
at the time--she knew i would NEVER have done anything intentionally
to hurt her....)
