Because the domesticated livestock we breed and eat has been so drastically changed from "natural" meat to something geared towards human health, that it is no longer good for other species of animals that require high fat contents, and other such things we humans try to avoid. Also, since we are not feeding WHOLE animals, we lose much of the feline health benefits of layers of fat, guts, eyeballs, bones, cartilage, and so forth. In addition, domestic cats are not wild animals, and because of humans tinkering with THEM, they no longer require the same diets as their wild cousins, and often have special dietary needs. ALL of this because we humans have to tinker with nature, of course. Feral colonies of domestic cats "wild housecats" rarely survive long, or live healthy lives, unless they are being fed cat food by a feral caregiver human.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm gonna ask anyway..Cats in the wild eat an all meat diet without vitamin supplements...Why do our domesticated kitties need them?
