Hi Jenn,
That's such wonderful news about little Bones! She was in such sad shape when she came to you. I don't know where you find the time with all you do to administer to these critical ones that are in your care. I'm sorry about Mythic's skin problems. I've been thinking about the two of you ever since I read that plea for a better circumstance him. Poor little angel, he sounds like such a mess! Someone else may have more money for vet care, but there isn't another human alive that he'd do better with otherwise. I'm praying the Pred shots help, they seem to be. I'm not very versed on Homeopathics, but maybe there's something that will help sooth his nerves. I know when I'm itchy, (and I've never had to deal with anything on this scale!), it makes me so crazy! Helping him be calmer might help all around. I'm guessing you've already tried topical products specifically made for itch. Something without harsh chemicals, just soothing ingredients. How about some aloe gel for the raw areas? Make sure it's pure aloe, no additives. Aloe gel helped Gypsy when her poor little anus was raw. The only other thing I have to add is to wait on upping the dose of Benadryl. I'd give the Pred some time on it's own to see if it helps him. Keep us informed, we're all pulling for Mythic and you.

You can update, or remove Bones... she is in EXCELLENT health, and FULLY recovered! Thanks to everyone for the prayers for her! She's currently in the special needs section. I will post new pictures of her in a few weeks, you should all see her, she has blossomed into the most beautiful and healthy little girl. She's in great weight, and her coat is thick and fluffy, and feels like velvet. I do not think she is in any pain at all anymore. She is such a pleasure to have around, we are very grateful that she recovered so quickly, and is so happy! She sleeps on the foot of the bed with us, and comes up to my face and gets loving ever so often throughout the night (yes, I'm a very light restless sleeper). She's a real angel. ** Bones prayers to recover from her spinal injuries and be free of pain - Jenn* ** Is there any chance you could add Mythic in her place. Mythic needs prayers to help his raw skin heal, and to stop itching. I took him in on a semi-emergency basis today and he got a prednisone shot, plus something else that the vet said was more fast-acting. I just got home from work, and he's right here in the room with me, and I have not seen him scratch, chew or dig at himself once since I've been home, so hopefully he is getting a bit of relief. Of course, this means I cannot take him in for his allergy testing for 2 months, because the drugs they gave him will cause the test to not be accurate. But he needs SKIN, first of all. Once we get a nice even layer of skin back on him, THEN we will stop the shots for 2 months and do the testing. The doctor really likes him, he said "It's too bad, he's SUCH a nice cat." but he reassured me that it is NOT to the point of no return yet, and it's not inhumane to keep him alive, so long as we keep up the shots until he gets his skin back. (he has no skin on his rear, around his anus, it's just a big circle of oozing seeping raw tissue now). When he was done giving him his shot, and I let him go back into his carrier, the exam table had big piles of hair on it. I said "See, he is losing his hair as we speak." and the doctor said yeah, he saw that. This is not the vet that did all the other tests on his skin, it is his OLD doctor, before I began taking him to the other place. This doctor will hold a check, the other one has to have money up front. The only reason I changed clinics was because this doctor we saw today still gave immunizations in the scruff. In fact, he gave Mythic his shot today in his scruff. I really don't like that, but he was the only person who could see us on such short notice without charging an emergency visit fee. I have also been advised to increase his Benadryl dose to a WHOLE tablet 3 times a day, the maximum dose for cats.

I collect KMR kitten formula labels for Bazil, a 3 yr old special needs cat who must live on a liquid diet for the rest of his life. Bazil's caretaker collects labels and sends them to KMR, where they add up until she earns a free can of formula!
PLEASE save your KMR kitten formula labels for Bazil!
If you use KMR, even just one can, please ask me for the mailing address you can send them to, to help feed Bazil!
