That would scare me too since some AB's can be harmful to kidneys, and if this cat has any kidney problems, the AB's can potentiate the situation...
 
As far as vet costs, that depends on the vet practice.
Here, (SoCenPa), a complete blood panel for a cat ranges from approx. $65-75 and up.
The specific tests also are priced indiviually, w/ a wide $$$ range.
 
Does she live near a shelter that has a clinic?
I know our clinic will do low cost bloodwork, provide poss. diagnosis & refer to one of the vets that does low cost vet work for shelter......
 
Please try to encourage your friend to seek vet help ASAP, because there are just too many problems that this poor cat may be going thru... 
And, it will take a VET to make accurate diagnosis.
Self-diagnosis & self treatment can be just as harmful as NO TREATMENT, and as I already stated, depending on WHAT condition(s) the cat has, can also be detrimental.
