I haven't seen another post from you since the first one, so I hope you're still out there reading this. First, let me say how sorry I am to hear you've already lost a kitty to felv. Most of us on the list have been through the sorrow of losing one of these very special angels to this nightmare disease. Tell us more about the kitty you lost and the one that's still here. Does he seem sick in any way? If so, what are his/her symptoms? The medicine interferon is to help boost your kitty's immune system. The oral liquid is Interferon A, it's derived from human DNA and it is given in the pulse method, (on and then off again), because there is the probability that your cat will develop immunities to it and it will no longer help. There is another interferon, Feline Interferon Omega that is better suited for cats, (derived from feline DNA), but it is expensive and not yet approved by the FDA.
