Hi Sandy,
I'm sorry the IFA confirmed Cotton Ball's status :(. It's good that the
Interferon is on the way. I take it this is the human interferon,
Interferon A? You give this interferon orally, it's tasteless and looks
just like water. The problem with Interferon A is that cat's will
eventually build an immunity to it. That's why it's suggested to give
in a "pulse" method protocol, like 7 days on and 7 days off. I've heard
that if you give it in a low enough dose, you can give it daily, without
too much concern of immunity. I used it on an "as needed" basis. When
my Gracie's gingivitis symptoms were acting up, (as Cotton's lymph nodes
are now), I upped her dose from 1cc daily, to 3cc. I've heard of people
giving even more. It really seemed to help. There's also something
called Interferon Omega. This is feline interferon that is given by
subq injections. It's expensive and a pain in the neck to procure
because it's not yet approved here in the states. You may want to think
about it, (check the archives for our discussionsabout it), to get
Cotton past whatever is causing his current problems. I remember you
saying that you've got Cotton on Lysine, what other immune support sups
are you trying? Have you heard about Transfer Factor? Check that out
from the archives as well.
Blessings to you and your baby,
Nina

Cotton's IFA came back positive, as suspected. The vet said there's not any
need to test him again. She said his bloodwork came back very
viral-looking, with his lymphocytes very high, but no other abnormalities.
The vet tech said they have ordered his Interferon. Anything I should know
about it's use?
Cotton was very sweet today and let me pick him up and hug him a little
while he purred with his eyes closed for a minute or so while I whispered
baby talk to him. I was worried that he might not be feeling well. And
then as I was putting him down, he bit my arm a little harder than gently,
so I didn't forget who he was. :) Sandy
