Tonya,Your comment about family reminded me of my sister-in-law's interpretation of why I refused ham at her table... I was newly dating my now husband, Bruce at the time. I found out years later that my sister in law was telling people I was Jewish, because I didn't want her pork! She just couldn't understand any other reason for not wanting to eat pigs, so funny.
