Yeah, I find it easier doing my own "compounding" too.
The pills you refer to, like zithromax and erythromycin, have that "coating" and that stuff doesn't crush any better using a mortar & pestle.... Very frustrating cause when I NEEDED to make an erythromycin oral solution at the shelter during our spirochete epidemic, the ONLY erythro I could get were the coated pills - not an easy chore, plus I don't think the "finished" product was as effective.......
