Wysong Archetype is basically dehydrated chunks of meat with supplements that need to be re-hydrated before serving. Firstly, the re-hydration takes far longer that instructions say. You better off starting the process a day before serving. Secondly, out of my 5 cats, 2 don't consider it food. I started by sprinkling it over their regular meal and found they ate around it. Or not at all. My other 3 are scavengers and will eat everything that is eatable and some things that clearly aren't (I do have to watch them constantly) so they ate it without any problems. But. Their stomachs never took to the food well and every time I served even a minimal amount of it they vomited it out or had diarrhea. The 3 are related (mama and kittens) so it may be some allergy they share although until now they didn't show themselves as allergic types. Yet, it proves to me that Archetype is not an easily digestible food and it is definitely not a solution for sick cats. Wysong Au Jus, on the other hand, proved very useful with my sick cat. When Ignatz couldn't eat anything but tiny amounts of cooked turkey I would smuggle Au Jus (turkey) underneath it (sometimes with a little sprinkling of Call to the Wild) and he would eat it too. Later I would leave him 2 bowls for the night, one with Au Jus and one with cooked turkey, and he would nibble from both. If he couldn't eat one, he'd go to the other bowl and eat there. The smells, the texture, the look were different and he probably felt he could cheat his nausea that way and the food didn't aggravate his condition much. When he was healthy he never wanted Wysong. This is very good food for those 'bad days'. When he wasn't eating I even considered putting it in a syringe and 'force-feeding' him it never came to that. It's grounded very fine so all you have to do is just add little water and it becomes like a slush-drink. It has no vitamins or supplements. "Call to the Wild" has to be added for a balanced meal. My scavengers eat it fine. In fact after the experiences with Archetype I gave them Au Jus to settle their poor stomachs. ;o) Anyway, I had to buy Au Jus turkey over the internet directly from Wysong because no retailer in the Chicago area had it (they usually carry only chicken, which I also use but turkey is Ignace's favorite meat). I keep few cans always as an emergency food. There is one canned food my cats love (even the 3 raw meat eaters) Merrick. Merrick is like Fancy Feast for the upper crust. ;o) Unfortunately, Merrick contains dry cranberries and therefore it's not a food for cats with CRF. And then there is canned fish from Trader Joe's and Tuna from Solid Gold, which are also universally loved. (Since Ignace's illness I tried every food that there is. Ask me anything ;o)) Good luck, Alice Yahoo!
