Not stupid at all. Kind of cute actually. English has so many bizarre
idioms that I do not know how anyone who did not grow up speaking it can ever
figure them all out.
By the way, I used to speak Spanish at work and while I was
very proficient and could communicate anything I needed to say, I sometimes did
not say things quite right and my clients would start laughing. Sometimes
they would tell me why what I said was funny, but sometimes they would not want
to, which always made me think maybe I inadvertently said something racy.
I never could get a handle on all the slang and idioms and everything,
especially since my clients came from a lot of different countries that all had
their own expressions.
So by my standards, Hideyo, your English is brilliant, and I wish you would
stop apologizing for it! :)
