One of my 1st FeLV+ cats was thought to be 12 - 14 years old, loaded
with fleas and very under fed had a heart murmur and the vet didn't give great hope... With good home care only she lived 2 years and passed quietly beside me at home much the way you would expect an older cat to pass... Another that checked OK when they arrived here and became anemic also developed heart murmurs.. This has been the case with my 3 AW kitties... Well..2 of them...Winky was already anemic and heart murmur when he arrived here... It seems to me that a murmur can be caused by poor blood condition... Which can show as anemia... And it all hinges on if you can fix the anemia or not (nonregenerative)... Winky was on A/D and free fed good dry food and he never improved...The vet refused to neuter him while in that condition...OJ was neutered and he never regained his full active level that he had the 1st week here before his neutering.. Was that the final straw that let the FeLV bug take hold ??? OJ got part of a can of A/D along with good food all of the 5 months he was here and in the end he was very anemic along with a huge tumor on his kidney...Unfortunately I don't know what started 1st or maybe it all started indepandantly...Was the cancer because because of FeLV or something they ate at AW or before...They were said to have been brought in by beach bums...God only knows what that means... They seemed to have gotten more human love that the average cat but what did they ingest or inhale ??? Wouldn't it be nice if they could talk and tell us the story of where their life had taken them before... Bramble is no longer with us as most here know but his passing was related to secondary probs with last stages of FIV and nothing to do with his heart murmer. |
