Subject: [FIVCats2] JuneAmy day 7

We are back from Madison She came throuigh well. I never did see the resident in charge (which I think is not nice) but the report she sent through is that she felt the abdominal mass is somewhat smaller & that JuneAmy seems to feel a bit better than last week.  They did not do another ultrasound, which surprised me, as I would have been happy to pay for it & had indicated that I favored it, but her bloodwork was ok.  Her HCT is at 30 which is actually a bit higher than last week. Her WBCs, contrary to going too low, are actually somewhat high!  They are attributing that to stress possibly. But at least it wasn't low.  Her liver values are still up considerably but they feel that is either due to the pred or the lymphoma.

So they went ahead & gave her the Vincristine.  We'll see how that goes. She's still on the pred, but 7.50 mg daily instead of 10.

Yesterday she ate several times on her own & came out to the kitchen last night. The night before, during the night, she had also eaten on her own, all of the shredded chicken & Purina DM (high protein) that I had left for her. So I hope I'm doing the right thing. If she had not seemed a bit better, I would not have taken her in today but the fact that she did seemed to me to indicate that we should keep trying.

It was very odd. While she was at the vet hospital & I was driving to Starbucks from MadCat, I was listening to Air America, as I always do when I am in Madison (where I can get it), & it was the woman named Stephanie. Can't remember her last name. Anyway her dog Chester had died suddenly on Friday & her other dog, Sally, has bone cancer. She had apparently been talking about this - Chester & Sally  - on the air since then because many of the listeners who called in spoke about losing pets (interestingly mostly cats!) & how they felt about it, what they died from.  I thought is was higly "conincidental" (?) that this should be on at this moment in JuneAmy"s & my short life so far together. I could not decide what message if any I should take from it though.
