and too many vets just don't bother to keep up with current knowledge--remember, when a problem is most commonly (and easily) solved by euthanasia, why look further for a solution???? (tho my vet, who is NOT a recent graduate, letmetellyou, says that even HE was taught never to euthanize a positive based on one test.....) sigh. glad you found us!

I think vets have to cover their asses.  If they told you it was 'safe' you could sue them if another of your cats actually contracted the disease.

More and more studies are showing that it is NOT easy to spread this virus among adult, vaccinated cats.

I just wanted to say Thank You to everyone in this support group!  It has only been a few days since I found out that Angel tested positive for felv.  At first, I had no clue what to do.  I'm glad I didn't listen to the vet.  I had even found a website where you ask a vet a question and pay $8 for the answer.  Two vets had emailed me back and said I either need to have Angel euthanized or give her away.  I was heartbroken.  Then, I came across your group and I actually feel like I can take care of her and give her what she needs, thanks to all your kind responses.

I'm sure in the days to come I will have a bunch more questions.  Hope you don't get tired of me!! <grin>

Thanks so much,

Karen
