Oh, they know all right. I was getting out the carrier the other day
and Starman started to flee in panic. I told him, "It's not for you",
and he stopped dead in his tracks and looked on with interest to see
who it was for. It really floored me! And, it's not just the
spoken word. My little trick of keeping chirping sparrows in mind when
preparing meds has worked on more than one of my cats to keep them from
diving for cover. Just because they don't cooperate, doesn't mean they
don't understand. They just don't always agree with our opinions about
what is and what is not necessary. On a sadder note, I still can't get the images out of my head regarding all those poor people and animals that found themselves in hurricane Katrina's devastation. We'd all like to think that somehow we'd find a way to save ourselves and our animals if we faced something like that. Blessings and prayers to all those that suffered and perished, may we never have to find out how we'd fare. If they so much as hear the carrier coming down from the shelf closet, they all head for the hills! Of course, I have one who delights in waiting til he sees one of the other cats being put in the carrier and immediately goes up to the close carrier to taunt the poor 'victim'--makes for some interesting howls!Chris |
