im = instant message, kerry..... any of the main ones (you'll see in my signature that i've got names on AIM, Yahoo, MSN and ICQ--used to have IRC, but don't use that one any longer!)..... and, no, i do not have separate buddy lists open on each of the services, i use trillian, which is an IM "handler," for want of a better word.... one list up for everyone.

for example, during the day, i can talk to mari or barb in at least one name each--barb's got a couple of names on different servers, too....

we run the entire pethobbyist.com set of sites on IM and chats--don't know what size the staff is now, but at one point there were about 70 of us. it's really a wonderful tool, if you don't mind being distracted from your real work a lot! hee hee.... AIM express allows people to im from work and other places where you can't really download the software.... great fun, and quite simple to get started with (and hooked on!)

MC (who can't even remember all the im names she's used at one point or another)

let me tell you that instant-messaging services are GREAT for those of us who are up-at-all-hours--you KNOW who's up, so you don't have to worry about waking anyone, and long "talks" with friends make the wee hours more enjoyable! (but then, i've been trying to get nina up on im for at least a year now.....)
