I've never tried taking temp & to be honest, I don't think I would. I know
its simple but I'd be too scared. I can tell if somebody's under the
weather by whether they stop eating, if they're mopey, and sometimes if
their nose & gums get real pale.

Most of the time I could tell Smokey had a fever when
he was lethargic and didn't care about eating. He
always gets up when I come into the room so when he
had a fever he wouldn't get up. He would just lay
there with his head down.
