Have you tried Apple Pectin to firm the stool?  That or even psyllium might help.  It did with Mai Mai (dog) and the Royal Princess Kitty Katt.  I know it sounds counterproductive but both my regular vets and alternative vets recommend a small increase in fiber with IBD.  They also recommend probiotics.
