Not necessarily. Cat's temps are warmer than ours in their normal state, so she may not be able to gage if her ears are "too" warm. I make a habit of touching their ears etc when I know they are feeling good so I have a better idea when things are off. The only way to truly tell is to take their temp, and I would not suggest that the new mom try that.
