Hi Michelle,
I'm relieved to hear Lucy is feeling and eating better. I did give Gypsy Penicillin injections when her IBD was at it's worst. They didn't seem to help her, but then nothing seemed to help her at the time.

I never heard of cats getting straight penicillin-- or is that what amoxicyllin is? Anyway, I read that injectible abx can still cause GI problems, I guess because they still kill bacteria in the GI tract. So far, knock on wood, she seems a bit better since getting the I-R shot today. Still sniffly and sleepy, but has eaten a lot more-- not normal amount, but I think more than half of normal amount-- and is grooming herself and walking around more. So I have my fingers crossed. We go back to the vet on Sat for another I-R shot, and I will ask about injectible abx then. Thanks!

Well, um, it's very old school, but what about penicillin
INJECTIONS? No GI upset at all... You can do it at home if your
vet will show you how to do it. My dad gave our dogs penicillin
shots for weeks when they had parvo and we couldn't afford
treatment when I was a kid (they both lived too!) I know we try
not to inject in cats due to sarcoma, BUT, as sick as Lucy is, and
as bad as the oral stuff effects her IBD, I'd certainly consider
    it in her case!
