You mean the FELV VACCINE? Yes, perfectly normal. The vaccine has a high
incidence of bad reactions, including causing TERMINAL CANCER in as many as
1 out of every 1000 cats it is given to. What was the brand and specific
name of the FELV vaccine your cats were given? Some brands have different
side effects than others, so I would have to know the information off the
label to be of more help. Personally, I never recommend the FELV vaccine to
healthy adult cats that have already been exposed and test negative, as it's
completely pointless, as they have proven to be naturally immune already.
But then, that's water under the bridge at this point. Just keep an eye on
ALL of the cats, and run your hand over their back leg where the vaccine was
given every day, to be sure it's not turning into a cancerous tumor, if you
feel a hard knot or bump, and it doesn't go away in a week, then you need to
discuss the possibility of Vaccine Site Sarcoma with your vet, and amputate
the leg before it spreads to an area that's not operable. As for just being
kinda "out of it" just watch the cats that act that way, be sure they are
eating and drinking and using the litterbox, and if they are not better in a
few days, then take them back to the vet for a check-up. You should report
the cats that have reactions to the vaccine, there are several places to do
this, listed below (you may have to get all the info from your vet or have
him fill out the forms):
https://web01.aphis.usda.gov/CVB/adverseeventreport.nsf/Adverse%20Event%20Report%20Form?OpenForm
http://www.vas-awareness.org/ReportReaction.htm (you need to know your
vaccine's manufacturer to report it directly to them)
