Hi all, I know that my third rescue cat in a week was not FeLV+, but I just
thought I'd let you know that she has a name! She must have let the girls at
the vet's office know her name this weekend-Nonie is what they've named her,
and it fits! What a relief for me as I just couldn't find the right name!
I'm working on putting out flyers now in case she is somebody's baby. But,
for now, she and Ashley are getting to know each other in the garage. I
think Ashley was a little upset that her home was being invaded! But, I hope
they'll become snuggle-buddies in a few days. For now I'll keep an eye on
them since Ashley is scrawny and Nonie is strong. But, Ashley seems to be
standing her ground-not giving up her comfy bed!

A side note, Cassidy, our FeLV+, almost escaped out the window just now! I
was busy typing, not paying attention, and he had clawed a hole in the
screen and was half-way out! Good thing he didn't do that when I was gone.
And luckily he didn't get hurt or scratched by the screen-it's old and soft.
I could have lost him for good, and who knows how many other cats he could
have infected! The bad news is that now I can't open the window in here-and
it's super stinky as I've mentioned before-that's probably why he wanted
out! I'm working on integrating the crystal litter-it's clearly just the
hormones left over-a very distinct tom-cat smell. He has no trouble peeing
like my other cat has had with a UTI; plus the food I feed them is designed
to neutralize (I think that's the word the vet used) their urine to prevent
UTIs, which my Bandit is very prone to-or more to the point, his urine turns
crystal-like and blocks up. This food prevents that (but doesn't treat it).
He hasn't had any problems since the new food was introduced. My vet's
office said the same thing as several of you did-it'll take probably 4 weeks
for the smell to subside. Lucky me! But, now, poor Cassidy can't hear the
birds or smell the fresh air! Even if I get the screen replaced, he'll still
be able to chew through it! Any advice for indestructible screens? The poor
guy is so used to being outside, he just wants to go chase the birdies,
bunnies, squirrels! I've tried to tell him that it's best for him to be
inside, but he just doesn't listen!
