Phaewryn, you have such useful advice! My screen is in no danger of falling out-unfortunately mine are so old that they have no fire safety mechanisms! Well, our house really isn't that old, but it was built cheaply in the early 80s. The people didn't care much for quick escapes! Someday I'll have to replace them anyway, but for now I'll probably use the lattice-work idea just because although chicken wire would work, this window faces the street-not a fancy neighborhood, but lots of gossips.
By the way, I like your horse barn idea! Can we use the "manure" as fertilizer :-) Ha! Ha! My husband deals with that sort of fertilizer and agriculture (spreading it on fields)-people spend millions on just buying the stuff. Only wish I could sell cat waste for the same.we'd all be rich! Melissa
