   As reported by MSNBCÂ…

Chenango Valley Pet Foods has begun voluntarily recalling pet foods
manufactured with a certain shipment of rice protein concentrate, the
company said Thursday.

The company, working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, was
informed by Wilbur-Ellis that rice protein concentrate shipped to Chenango
Valley Pet Foods may be contaminated with melamine. Melamine, an industrial
chemical used to make plastics and fertilizers, may lead to illness or
fatalities in animals if consumed.

The pet foods were sold to customers in Wisconsin, Massachusetts and
Pennsylvania, who in turn sold the products to their customers through
catalog mail orders or retail outlets.

"The rice gluten used in our Lick Your Chops 5.5oz canned cat foods is
not sourced from China."

Lick Your Chops appears to be new today.

As of April 26, 5:20 pm CST, Healthy Pet Foods, Inc, the company that sells
Lick Your Chops has not updated their website. Currently, from an April 20
release, their site says,

I just went to the Lick Your Chops website to see if there was any info
there - just an announcement from a few days ago saying that their products
were NOT involved in the recall. I called the 800 number and someone
answered right away. He confirmed the recall of the dry cat food referred to
in the msnbc story - said it was just the one batch with the best by April
29, 2008 date. Also said it was precautionary measure by them and Chenango,
based on possible contamination, not confirmed. I pointed out that there was
nothing on their website yet, and that now that this story was on msnbc and
petconnection, people were going to be hitting their website alot. He agreed
the need to address that, and that he had to contact his webmaster. Said the
website would be updated by tomorrow morning at the latest.
