Melissa, I understand your fear, but I *personally* would not be concerned. That forum is on the Best Friends Network, which is provided by them as a service and is not their "official" stance on anything. There is a disclaimer - "Content is posted freely by website members and may or may not reflect the opinions, goals, or mission of BFAS." It is largely volunteer run (I know the volunteer who edits the Texas community) and there may be a rogue moderator.
