Oh, and yes, any cat can have an electrolyte imbalance, but giving too many fluids can cause it, definitely. The balance is very delicate. I never really understood why cats and dogs don't get routine electrolyte supplements like all other mammals do when ill or over-worked. Think pedalyte for human babies - gatorade for human adults, they make similar stuff for supplementing livestock (horses) and it's routine to give it after any competition or in illnesses. But cats and dogs don't seem to get these things. I don't understand why not. Maybe there is a reason I am unaware of.
