this was received today by a friend trying to place a shaded-silver persian....
the paragraph about testing/retesting might be something to keep in your files for those folks who won't listen to commoners, but might believe something coming from them (sigh). what i'm most intriqued by is how few of these places i know of in terms of their taking in FIV/FeLVs--am i slipping that badly? (be kind....) and where are some of the ones that we hear about more often? any feedback on these places'd be good info for all of us. ******************************************* Thank you for contacting Best Friends. At this time, our feline leukemia areas are functioning at capacity but I will be glad to share some other resources and suggestions with you. Please note the list of other FeLV/FIV-friendly organizations below. Also, you may have this information about feline leukemia but, if not, I thought it was worth sharing: Before you make any final decisions about the cat's future, I strongly recommend that you have the cat's test result confirmed with an IFA test. A positive IFA test will confirm that the cat is actively carrying the virus. If the cat tests positive on the ELISA test, but negative on the IFA test, it is likely that the cat has successfully fought off the virus and will most likely remain negative unless it tests positive again within one year. You should also have the cat retested with the IFA test twelve weeks after the first negative IFA test, just to be sure, before integrating the cat into a household with other cats. * The inclusion of an organization or program in this listing is NOT an endorsement or recommendation. We have not checked them out. Even if we attempted to do so, management and policies can change suddenly. We strongly suggest that you check out an organization yourself before using their services.* *ARIZONA*** Friends for Life Animal Sanctuary 143 West Vaughn Ave. Gilbert, AZ 85233 (480) 497-8296 Fax: (480) 497-8144 E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Website: http://azfriends.org *Accepts mainly shelter animals.
