Hey Glenda,

The thing we may have to be careful of in this situation is the media. They
might put Susan in her one bedroom apartment with all those cats on TV, and I
don't know what the pet limit laws are in San Francisco, but I'm betting animal
control will get involved. If the media only covered the fire and gave out
Susan's contact info., that would be great, but I'm betting they'll want to
know where the cats are now for the story, which probably wouldn't be good.

The media, however, can be used for good in some situations. We had a member
here, Leslie, back in October whose cats got carjacked in Washington state, if
you can believe it! Thanks to the media (TV coverage), she got both her
wonderful cats back in a matter of time, a couple of days or so. The thief
left the car with the windows open in a retail area, and the cats got out. It
is a miracle they weren't killed. One was found at a shelter and the other
hanging around one of the stores, I believe. It's one of my all time favorite
stories now.

:)

How very sad. This is near where I was raised...so I
can feel it very deeply. I have heard San Francisco
has become very progressive in caring for it's
homeless pet populations, as well as everything to do
with controlling it's pet populations. Is anyone
familiar with their policies, as I am always
interested in learning the different secrets of
success.I think Las Vegas, Nevada is another such
place???
Anyway, it would seem, if this is the case ,with a
fair amount of publicity to make people aware of this
tragedy, there might be an out pouring of sympathy for
these cats...I guess I am just being hopeful? I do,
however have faith in my fellow Californians...I'm so
sorry for everyone involved...Glenda
