Well, they are collecting for The March of Dimes
again...
Yesterday, while I was driving down the road my cell
phone rang and it was an across town neighbor calling
me to see if I would pledge a donation...
I was kind of in a hurry, racing to a job and had just
left a job where my check is being held up...and maybe
this was not the perfect time to call me asking for
money?
Anyway, I told the person I give to animal and
environmental causes and rattled off a list of names
of organizations like Peta and Sea Shepherd ...Sierra
Club...WWF...etc. (I'm not loaded but I give a dab
here and there...) I also told him, I did not like
giving to the March of Dimes, because I did not like
babies and especially babies with birth defects! <JUST
KIDDING GUYS!> No really, I told him I did not like
the March of Dimes, because they give large amounts of
money to labs that CONDUCT ANIMAL TESTING.
When I was a kid I remember how cool it was to fill
those sheets with dimes, probably one of the first
organizations to really be successful with getting
volunteers to walk the pavement collecting...
Oh one more thing, the neighbor , upon me rejecting
his request , reminded me he came into this world with
a birth defect...he uses crutches...a good selling
point and certainly a good way to make people feel
guilty for not contributing, but this morning I
googled march of dimes/animal testing. I called him
and left a message to confirm why I refused him and
told him to research his cause a bit...
My son told me my back hurts today, because I'm
evil...maybe he is right? Oh well, just thought I'd
bring this subject up to entertain you guys while I'm
a bit slowed down today with my aching back...
