I wish I had some advice to offer you but have never seen this before. I have
seen anemia before, which is a hard condition to fight, but never just anemia
with no explanation as to why. How do the other bloodwork numbers look? Has
your vet suggested Epogen or steriods like Winstrol to try to stimulate rbc
production? Will they be giving Spencer another transfusion soon?

:)

Subject: Spencer - terrible blood problems - tests negative

Hello everyone. My little boy, Spencer, who is only 8 mos old is in dire
straights.

He has been in the vet's care for 2 weeks now with terrible blood numbers. He
has received a whole blood transfusion, plus 2 rounds of plasma.

Still - his RBC, WBC, and platelets are very very low. He has bruising all
over. He is pure white so the bruises are very easy to see.

They will be doing a bone marrow aspiration tomorrow. He has tested negative
for FelV - three times (as a small kitten, and two tests since all this trouble
started).

The vet is a specialist. She believes it is FelV. I'm just wondering why he has
had no other signs - just all of a sudden he started bruising!!!

I am just heartsick. My 13 year old sweetie was euthanized one year ago due to
CRF. Now my new baby, who I am terribly attached to, has something horribly
wrong.

Any insight or comments would be appreciated. And, of course, prayers.

thank you so much.

Spencer's Mom
