Trissa, How old are these kittens? From what I understand, if they contracted FelV from the mother cat and they are going to throw it off they will do so by about 5 or 6 months of age.
As for the length of time it takes after exposure, I believe that is about 6 weeks or so. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. They say it is good to wait a couple of more months before retesting to see if the cat turns negative.
