Some cats will get stomatitis and this is painful and they will eat less. Has your vet looked his mouth and throat over very carefully? Some of these pics are extreme and a cat doesn't have to have that bad of a case for them to eat less, Bailey had a mild case, his gums were just slightly red and he was eating a little less, this is when we tested him and found he had Bartonella, not hemo bartonella, Bartoneaal is something different and is treated different. Bailey also had several teeth removed because of this and that helped give him relief. Something else to look for, beware of tooth reobsorbtion, mentioned in a few of these articles.
