My friend does something similar but she feeds them all in separate crates. They know their crates and will jump in at meal time. I could never give my cats canned food in separate bowls like that - they love canned food so much they just go crazy and some would definitely be left out. I also have one who does not like canned food - she does like plain human canned chicken but I can't give her that as a main diet.
