As always Amani, thanks for the reply. I am always impatient about these things I know. She was very sick and doubt that I would be back to normal after one week either. She can hear because she responds sometimes, but sometimes she doesn’t. Hopefully since her numbers were not through the ceiling this will resolve with time and love. I don’t think she is in pain, she is letting me pet her ears and the dog has been grooming her there and she doesn’t seem to mind. just kind of out of it. She is better after resting so I have been not waking her to eat since she is doing plenty of that now. I have given her a couple of Temptations treats. The beef flavor. She wants more and I think she would eat the whole bag. (I saw her trying to get the bag open today) I have read good and bad things about them. Do you have an opinion?
We go back in on Tuesday for blood tests. Am wondering how she is doing not being on the Winstrol, doxy or pred for over a week. I will let you all know. Thanks again for helping us through this tough time. I think the effects will fade with time. Do not be too concerned. Every other parameter looks very good. And yes, it could also be that the electrolytes like potassium are still a bit off, but that too will correct on its own with food and fluid intake. Remember also that whatever initially caused the jaundice, if it was indeed some sort of additive to the salmon, may still be having an effect. Again, with everything else looking so good, it will wash out eventually. There may be some residual effect, and I am actually wondering if it is ear damage (because with damage to the ears, this can effect equilibrium and cause vertigo). It may not resolve completely but I would expect some further improvement. Just keep up your excellent babying skills. I wonder if she slowed so much in her diet last week that she got hepatic lipidosis. Been reading about it this morning and her symptoms were awfully similar. The best day so far for her. Eating great on her own, all bodily functions aok. Drinking a lot. Maybe too much? I gave her that Fancy Feast gravy yesterday watered down and she did have some diarrhea but it is getting better. Just too rich I think. Jaundice is very light now. Gums and nose are pink. She even played some. All these things are so wonderful. But when she tries to sit still, she rocks or sways some. Even walking or standing over her dish she is struggling with her balance. It is like her world is spinning faster or something. She knows her name and where everything is. She sometimes stares at a blank wall almost like in a trance. I have had to blockade all the staircases, her condo and such because she wants to use them and she would fall for sure if she had access. Her gait has improved but really this is a little scary. Was curious if I might need to still be giving her Pedialyte. Her potassium was on the low side on the 12th and they didn’t recheck when they released her. With all that IV fluid and this water she is getting, do you think she could still technically be dehydrated? Moist gums, skin snaps back. Just wondering what you all thought. If not that, could it be vertigo or something? She isn’t nauseous , although I would be. Good appetite. Sorry for all the questions but I am worried about her neurological status. And was wondering if any of you had gone through this with your babies.
