My cat Pooka was spayed at 6 months prior to her first heat. A year
afterwards she started exhibiting behavior that was consistent with being
in heat. I couldn't figure out what was going on. I thought at first
maybe she was just lonely, so I got another cat, Bandit. That really
didn't resolve the problem, but I am sure she was happier having a
companion anyway. . Finally in desperation, particularly after Bandit
became sexually mature (he was male) and she really started carrying on; I
took her to the vet . He suggested doing exploratory surgery to see if a
little residual ovarian tissue was left from the first spay, that was
producing hormones triggering the behavior.
Low and behold, He found a second intact set of ovarian horns and uterus.
He said that it was not unheard of that cats had duplicate sets of
reproductive organs. I still have them in a little jar of formalin on my
shelf (remember I work in a Pathology lab.... <<grin>>) Neither of us
could figure out how the first vet missed them, but it stopped the behavior
and luckily, before I became Yia Yia to a litter of kittens!!
We see this same phenomenon in women with dual cervices and uteri in our
practice.

Could you take her to local vets to see if they remember her?
It sounds like a desire to mate to me.
How old did she look when you first got her?

any other heat-type behaviors, just the desire to go out.

can't let her beat up the kitten who is already getting very skittish from
being attacked so often.
