Emily-

I had read that too, but as someone who thinks vaccines are given too freely
by vets who really don't differentiate between those animals who need it and
those who don't, I don't agree.

The point of a vaccine is to inject the body w/ a dead form of the virus in
order to get the body to build up an immunity to the "real" thing. If the
person/cat already has that virus alive and well in their body, the vaccine
won't help. And there is a reason why we run fevers and feel bad after
vaccines-our bodies are fighting them. Anytime the body is forced to do
that, it stresses the immune system. This is what our felv cats are trying
to protect-their immune system. I don't know- I mean I know that your vet is
not alone in his/her belief, but I just don't agree. It is, to me, blatantly
contradicting what the overall goal is-keeping the immune system healthy.
But each of us need to do our own research and hear what all is out there and
then decide for ourselves.

The holisticat site has lots of good articles a/b vaccines!! Oh, and I
think very highly a/b what another list member, Truman Preston, has posted
a/b the details of Interferon and some of what he has posted does coincide
with what your vet said-that the vaccine is good for the cat even after they
test positive. Maybe he can give us more details on that????....
