In my situation, the virus was hiding in the bone marrow but DID activate
in the stray I had adopted (I didn't even know it because my (dumb) vet
only did one test, which was negative. When it did activate, my year-old
and otherwise very strong and healthy Henry Lee became very sick,
contagious, and as a result, died of felv,and he infected two of my other (
all indoor) cats who also died.
I guess the question to ask would be what are the chances of the
virus activating and what are the percentages involved.
