Terri,
First don't panic. Second, check her ears and paws and
see if they feel hot. Olivia spikes fevers after the
3rd day on interferon when it manages to get her
immune system into gear. She may be feeling flu like
symptoms if her immune system if firing up and
fighting. Olivia seems to tolerate low fevers well and
still eats. Only if it's really high does she stop.
This is not true of many cats. A low grade one will
make them act like this. From what you are describing,
she's acting like she feels like crap and since this
started when you started giving her interferon, this
might be what is happening. Keep giving her fluids and
force feed. Check for fever and get it down if it's
high.
If she is hot, get your vet to give you ketoprofen.
Olivia has this at home in a 5mg capsule form in case
of fever spikes. This is not a steroid and is safe to
give cats.
Also ketoprofen is available in the pharmacy under the
name of Orudis. It's 12.5mg and Ashley was given this
for pain for a UTI. She was given half of one and
she's a little over 10lbs.
