Rachel: About a year ago I fostered three kittens who all had the runs. I
called my vet and asked if there was anything I could give them for it and
he told me to give them Kaopectate. It comes in liquid form and in two
flavors, plain and peppermint. I gave my kittens peppermint Kaopectate by
using an eye dropper. It helped. Try it. I don't remember how much I gave
them. I'm thinking an eye dropper full each time, 2x a day. But I would
start with 1/2 an eye dropper, 2x a day. And if it doesn't help after 2
days, increase to a full eye dropper.

She has had diarhea since I got her. I told the vet about it, but on the
first visit (just 2 days after I brought her home) he said it could just be
caused by an upset in her surroundings but to keep an eye on her. I brought
her back to the vet one week after that and reported that she still had it.
He gave me a prescription for her to take twice a day and I just can't seem
to get her to take it. I've tried everything. I'm lucky to get one of her
two daily pills in her. I try and try and try and we both just get so
stressed out that I've had to give up a few times. I got her to take a
bunch by crushing the pill and mixing with her food, but she wised up to
that trick and stopped eating it. We're talking a cat walked away from
FRESH COOKED FISH!!!! Smart little cookie.
I think she must be in heat - what everyone is describing is how she is
behaving so I'm just keeping an eye on her and trying to keep her occupied.
The vet wanted to wait to spay to see if we could get rid of the diarhea and
retest for leukemia and aids. I will be pushing for that if the vet thinks
she would be OK. She does drink plenty of water so we are not very
concerned about dehydration. But I do keep a close watch on her.

Rachel....

She certainly sounds like she is on heat. Has she been spayed yet?
There really isn't anything you can do to help except to have her
spayed.

As far as the diarrhea, that shouldn't be caused by being on heat.
Has she been checked for giardia or coccidia?
