Hi all- I am forwarding on the email I got from my friend a/b her cat Marble. I had emailed the story to the list a few months ago a/b the cat she got from the humane society who suddenly started showing signs of illness. She was very lethargic, and would not eat much. The vets gave conflicting opinions. She tested negative for FIV and Felv but positive for FIP (or a corona virus at least). As a process of elimination, the first vet did diagnose her w/ FIP but the 2nd and 3rd opinion vets said they didn't think so. Anyway, after a long period of simply being lethargic, Marble started having seizures last week on Monday and Tuesday. By Wednesday, Keitha and Michael made the painful decision to let her go. It was all very strange, she would eat a little but they had to bring it to her. They were also physically putting her in the litterbox a couple of times a day and she would use it. She just had no energy to move on her own. She was not in pain until last week when the seizures started. The following message is her letting me know the results of the "autopsy" of her kitty. It looks like it was FIP. Keitha is the first person who showed me the Rainbow Bridge poem so I think it would be fitting to add her baby to our candle light service next week. Marble Cheddar passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2001. Thanks! Jamie
Hi again - just wanted to let you know that Marble's tissue samples did test positive for FIP. The doctor that did her autopsy talked to Michael & said that her internal organs were very damaged - brain, liver, intestine... the doctor said if she wasn't suffering, she was about to. So, if you can feel better about this, we do a little, knowing that she would not have gotten any better. We are still so sad... ya know? Let me know how you guys are doing! kab
