Hi guys.  I'm starting to wonder if that URI Samantha had a few weeks ago was
really a URI.  We had a CBC done and everything was normal.  But Samantha's
not.  I can't put my finger on it, but I'm really worried.  Her fever has
been gone, and she hasn't been sneezing or runny nose at all.  The clavamox
seemed to clear that up.  Physically she looks fine, gums are good, eyes are
clear, but I'm concerned.  She keeps doing a "sigh" that just doesn't sound
right.  She's not coughing.  If you hold her on her back (like a baby), she
seems to have trouble breathing, like she's got congestion or something going
on in there.  Occasionally she will have what appears like a hairball hack -
nothing comes up and it's just a quick cough like hack, but happens only once
in a while.  She's also, still, hiding under the bed on occasion.  And even
worse, she's like permanently attached to me.  I spent almost the entire
weekend with her, and she cuddled with me the WHOLE time.  Sammie is normally
a cuddly kitty - but only when she's in the mood for it.  She slept for 4
hours straight in my arms (not like her - she usually prefers cuddling up
behind my legs or lying at my feet, never sleeps in my arms).  She finished
up her on week of interferon Saturday night.  She's been sleeping a lot, but
at the same time, is VERY energetic - I had her chasing a feather on a stick
like she's never ran around before - she seems very alert and wanting to play
at times.  All of the symptoms I've been describing happen while she's at
rest.  When at play her breathing gets very rapid and she tires easily, but
she can play longer than she could before.  She will sigh more often with
that hack when playing though.  While at rest, her breathing rate seems to be
increased.  It doesn't appear that she's having a hard time breathing, but
her respirations are definitely faster.  And those sighs, even without the
hack, are really worrying me.  Is it possible that this is just allergies?
Or should I have a chest x-ray done?  If it was a tumor, wouldn't some
abnormal cells have showed up on the CBC?  I know she is REALLY lonely and
that could account for the abnormally high amounts of affection, but that
doesn't make me feel any better...  Mother's instinct - I know something is
up...  Just not sure what...  Any suggestions as always would be greatly
appreciated.  Cats are great at hiding that they're sick, so I'm obviously
worried...

Thanks!
Genie
