Bonnie,

This is my first experience with wet FIP and I am hating every minute of it.
I did have a foster with dry FIP a few years ago, but the dry form if FIP
seems to drag on a lot longer. I think Cody (that was his name) spent
almost a year in his permanent home before he passed away. The wet form is
dreadful. Did your kitties live long after diagnosis?

Did the tapping of the fluids prolong your first kitty's life? And, if so,
for how long? In your opinion, do you think it was worthwhile as far as
quality of life?

        Denise,
I am very sorry for you. I just lost my kitten Nicky to
FIP in September. I lost another kitty in '83 to FIP.
The vet tapped my first kitty's abdomen several times
and he appeared to be more comfortable after that. But
it was difficult to get much fluid out of Nicky because he
had a membrane that covered his organs, I forget the name,
and it was growing thicker to protect them from the FIP virus.
It was very difficult for the vet to penetrate it to draw off
        fluids.
Still, you could ask your vet about tapping LaVerne, if you
haven't already discussed it with him .But just give her all the
love she needs and deserves and you will
be a good cat mom, as we all know you are.

        Bonnie
