Subject: Spay/Neuter
Vikki,
I never had my cat Lucki spayed, although I lost her at 3 I didn't
believe it should be done since my vet said she might not make it through
the operation, so of course I couldn't take that chance on losing her. She
did go into heat alot in the three years she was with me, but she still
seemed very happy, maybe just a little uncomfortable. I'm surprised that
other's on the list have had there felv cats spayed, because I didn't think
that was an option for me. If I knew the stress of going into heat was going
to effect her health maybe in a negative way I might have had it done. I
just wasn't informed on that 6 years ago. Although I did have my felv male
neutered. I hope your cat remains healthy no matter whether you decide to
have her spayed or not. I guess you just never know. Lisa

reassurance. Chloe is about 10 months old now, and way past due to be
spayed. Our vet keeps delaying the surgery, however. I think she's afraid
Chloe won't make it through the surgery. She even said to me that it's not
usual for them to live long enough to need it!! (Normally I like my vet, but
I hated that comment.) Anyway, is there a specific weight or age that Chloe
should be before she's spayed? She's at about 7 lbs right now, although she
feels very thin to me. I think she's probably underweight for her bone
structure. I haven't noticed any signs of her in heat, either. So, should I
wait? Should I go ahead? I don't want to put her through that, if she's not
physically able to handle it yet. She had a blood workup this summer that
was very positive - her RBC went up 8 points (I think).

*Very* healthy and HUGE. He easily weighs more than Chloe does. I have no
worries at all about him getting neutered. Should I just fix him then, and
leave Chloe alone? For now, at least?

have to make a decision soon.
