Genie,
You may have already tried this - when my Cossette had a bad case of feline acne - her
chin was almost raw with blackheads and sores and then Collette started with the same
thing, my vet finally asked if I was using plastic bowls. Well, I said yes and even
though I was washing them (the bowls) every day it did not help. I guess the plastic
retains the bacteria despite frequent washing. She recommended a switch to porcelin
bowls. I still wash the bowls frequently and the acne completely cleared up within a
couple of weeks. If you haven't tried this maybe it will help. Good luck.

Hi everyone. We're getting ready for the move in 12 days and it's quite
hectic. I've gone around all kitties today and found some health issues that
concern me. I've known about a few of these for some time and have tried to
clear them up with no success. Everyone is also due for their annual shots -
I want to postpone them until after the move for stress related issues. I'll
start with our seclusion room. If anyone has any clues for these symptoms,
please let me know!

First Samantha, our one FeLV+
She's doing great for the most part. Been on interferon 7on/7off since I
joined the list a while ago. She's gained a TON of weight and is eating
Innova canned once a day. I'm concerned because she still has a little bit
of feline acne - not much at all, two or three pores to be exact - but she
seems to have a sore on each corner of her mouth/lips on the outside. Almost
as if when a human's lips crack at the corners. Is that anything to be
overly concerned about? They don't look infected, just a little sore.

In the same room with Samantha is Shadow, FeLV-
Shadow has been doing great in the room with Samantha. He's had a mysterious
rash on his back before, which cleared up nicely when I thought it was an
allergy to catnip or their old food. The rash is back again - do cats have
seasonal allergies? He's not ripping his fur off, but I have caught him
chewing on the spot where we find the scabs/rash. I also noticed a very
strange ulcer like sore on his chin last night. That definitely was not
there last week, and it looks a bit strange. It does not look like it's puss
filled or fluid filled at all - I'm scared to report it almost looks like a
tiny tumor. What the heck could that be?

On to the general FeLV- population, I'll start with Luke
Luke is back on his prednisone again and I'm happy to report he's doing
better again. Back to his old tricks, he has earned the nickname of
Pop'N'Fresh this weekend after getting into freshly made Pillsbury Grands
Cinnamon Rolls... Best served all over mom's clean kitchen floor...

Romeo, our Meezer, has had dirrhea on and off. Our vet suggested Kaeopectate
childrens formula. He also seems to have come down with a strange dry skin
rash patch behind one of his ears... Otherwise doing okay...

Whisper has also had a case of feline acne that does not want to clear up...
It's gotten better, but still looks like her chin is quite dirty. I've tried
stridex which seems to irritate it for her, so the best way to keep it clean
is a general chin bath...

Amber our orange tabby who needs to lose weight also concerns me. She also
has a bad case of feline acne. Any efforts to clean her chin result in her
scratching at her chin for hours resulting in a very messy scabby chin...
It's not as severe as it was, but I'd like to clear it up. Because she's so
big she has a hygeine problem around the tail. Other than the weekly bath
(which is quite stressful on her) are there any other ways to keep her clean?
Wish we could teach her to use TP! She's a very sassy girl who doesn't like
to get her nails cut... I'm worried that she'll develop an infection and/or
the need to get the anal glands expressed... Ewww... Don't want to get to
that point...

If anyone can offer some advice for our kids I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!
