Genie,

Did you ask the vet about IBD?  Do you want some info on it to research?  Check out the link below and scroll down the page for the topic.  There are several veterinary links with a lot of info.  As I said in my earlier post, IBD is an auto immune disease.  It causes diarrhea, weight loss and ulcerations which are painful.  Cortisone is not only an anti-inflammatory but it also suppresses the over active immune response, so long term low dose steroid therapy like oral Prednisone is often the main treatment for this.  Also a high fiber diet often helps.

Hey guys.  Luke had a really rough night last night.  I think the stress of the past few days finally caught up to him.  He's still eating like a horse - had a whole can of a/d for breakfast yesterday and an ENTIRE perdue chicken breast last night for dinner.  He was just eating and sleeping at first last night, but as it got later I was completely terrified.  He was obviously uncomfortable, and was making throaty noises, almost like humming when he took a breath.  I spent hours holding him, telling him how much I love him, and stroking his soft fur.  He kept wanting to extend his body along the floor, getting up and walking a foot, then lying back down again.  I looked into his eyes and told him if he couldn't fight anymore it was okay, I love him and he could go...  But he wanted to fight, and this morning was attac! king my hands when I moved my hand away from petting him to scratch my nose (he does that normally, so that was a good sign).  He has been sleeping most of the day so far, ate a good breakfast, and followed me into the kitchen and around the house.  Right now he is seemingly hiding for a nap, but he's made it clear that he does not want to give up yet...  I, personally, still suspect IBD, then FIP, then lymphoma...  I just wish there was something I could do to make him more comfortable.  I have joined the FIP list at yahoogroups.  I didn't want to even consider it, but at this point, I can't afford not to  :-(
