Hey all. I noticed with all the wonderful replies that I've received (THANKS!) that I should have included Luke's medication in the email. Currently he is on 5mg of prednisone twice a day, 1.5cc of pet-tinic twice a day, 1/4 pill of metronidazole (Flagyl) twice a day, and 1/2 human over the counter pepsid in the evening. We have tried cyproheptadine, I've tried all different dosing variations with it, and it makes Luke SO sick and uncomfortable it's not worth using. The only tolerable dosage of that for him is 1/4 pill once every other day - and it still doesn't do enough for his appetite and just makes him feel lousy. So unfortunately that is not an option any longer. We've tried almost every canned food on the market - natural AND junk, and so far he'll only try the fancy feast and that just comes right back up. He used to !
eat Hill's A/D to no end when we were trying to get his weight up - now he won't go near it. His bloodwork didn't show any signs of diminished kidney or liver function. The only thing that was off on the bloodwork was his calcium level - which was 11 out of a high normal of 10.8. He's been seeing a new vet for a little over a month now and is doing much better than when he was seeing the "specialist". We're treating him like he has IBD, but in short, we're still really not sure. We don't want to subject him to invasive testing especially since we don't feel he's up to it. *Hopefully* this diet will work. Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions and prayers!
