Hi Kathy,
I have 6 kitties and bailey is my only positive, I do let them mix
and have for 7 yrs (that's when bailey joined us), they are all current
on vaccs. and get tested every year, so far no one has gotten it from
him. I partly let them mix because when we did have Bailey separated
while we were trying to decide of we were going to keep him after we
found out he was positive, I found out my little stinker Joey was
squeezing under the door and playing with him (we lived in a mobile home
and the space was fairly big). So he had already exposed himself and
everyone else (they were all vaccinated then also). Joey and Bailey
just love each other and groom and play together all the time. All the
kitties share bowls, litter boxes, and living space. I also do it
because all of my kitties except Joey and Buddie are strays that most
likely wouldn't be alive today if we hadn't found each other, so I leave
things in the hands of the all mighty that brought us together. And I
really don't have the space or situation that makes separating
(different house than 7 yrs ago) an option.

I do know however long we have together is full of love, and lots of
time together (I'm lucky enough to work from home and I don't go
anywhere unless I absolutely have to, a true homebody!), in fact I'm
typing with one hand, cause Joey (my baby) is giving my face one of it's
many daily baths.

The choice is a very personal one, and if it works for you to keep them
separate and you and they are comfortable with that, then that's what
you should do.

PS. Bailey was separated for 5 months and he was absolutely miserable,
even though I tried to spend alot of time with him, so it was more
stressful on him ands the other kitties to keep him this way, it wasn't
a decision we made lightly, but for us it works and so far, God has kept
everyone healthy, I hope Friday's appointment (kitty annual testing and
vaccines) doesn't change that.
