Oh Jamie, What sad news to come home to. Jan knew that you cared. It was so nice for that staff member to take her home to watch her. Jan isn't suffering anymore. Please take care of yourself. Bonnie from Ohio
>>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 02/24/02 07:14PM >>> You all may remember a few weeks ago when I told you I was considering adopting a Felv+ cat at our shelter, her name was Jan. Well, you can see by my using the past tense, she is no longer with us. I went in today and both cat rooms were virtually empty-very odd. So she was conspicuously missing. I asked one of the volunteers about her and the poor guy looked like he wanted the floor to open up and suck him in. He asked if I was the one who wanted her and I said I was. So he said "I hate to be the one to tell you this, but they had to let her go." It felt like someone punched me in the stomach. He said there was a URI outbreak 3 weeks ago (I've been out of town so that was the last time I was there) and they separated Jan just thinking she had gotten URI like the other cats (about 25 in isolation right now)! Anyway, nothing serious with any of them, but Jan just went down hill. She wasn't eating or moving and cried out when touched. Thankfully one of the staff took her home to monitor her, but they made the call to PTS about a week later (last week I think). The vet said there was fluid in her chest and suspected Lymphoma. So I guess I won't be taking her home after all. I just hate that she spent her entire life w/ Felv and in a cage. It just sucks! Jamie
